BERNARD BERNIE BRASE MUSCATINE, Iowa - Bernard Bernie G. Brase, 78, of Muscatine, died on Monday, May 17, 2010, at his home. Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 22, 2010, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Clark Pantel of Mulford Evangelical Free Church will officiate the service. Honorary bearers will be Shelly Ives, Kim Mlekush, Tonya Brase, and Thomas Brase. Casket bearers will be Greg Brase, Darrell Brase, Tony Brase, Jeff Brase, Skeet Lewis, and Mark Brase. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 21, 2010, at the funeral home. Memorials may be left to the family in care of Jacqueline Brase. Bernie was born on October 26, 1931, in Muscatine, the son of George and Lorene Fountain Brase. He married Jacqueline Johnson on October 16, 1982, in New Boston, Illinois. He worked at the Iowa Ordinance Plant in Burlington. He drove semi trucks, logging over 2.5 million miles. urch. He loved fishing, hunting, and feeding the ducks with his grandson. Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Jacqueline Brase of Muscatine; six sons, Greg Brase of Muscatine, Darrell Brase and Jackie, of Grandview, Tony Brase of Muscatine, Jeff Brase and Machale, of Muscatine, Skeet Lewis and Kim, of Muscatine, and Mark Brase of Muscatine; three daughters, Shelly (Brase) Ives and Speedy, of Muscatine, Crystal (Lewis) Nichols and Ron, of Holt Summit, Missouri, and Tonya Brase and Travis Nichols, of Davenport; 24 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jack Brase and wife, Marilyn, of Iowa City, and Leland Brase and wife, Marilyn, of Beaverton, Oregon; and a sister, Deb (Bishop) Schmeiser and husband, Don, of Las Vegas, Nevada. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Tim Brase; his maternal and paternal grandparents; and several aunts and uncles.
