Herman F. Darrow WAPELLO, Iowa - Herman F. Darrow, 72, of Wapello, died Wednesday, August 18, 2010, at the Wapello Nursing and Care Center. Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 22, 2010, at the Solid Rock Baptist Church, Wapello. The Rev. Dan Doolin will officiate services. Burial will take place 11 a.m. on Monday, August 23, 2010, at the Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello, with graveside military rites. A memorial has been established in his name. Mr. Darrow was born to Leonard ''Whitey'' and Berdena Brockhohn Darrow, on November 23, 1937, at Oxford Junction. He married Mary Rennie in 1961. She preceded him in death in 1994. After graduating from Oxford Junction High School, he began serving with the U.S. Air Force, a career he continued through 1976. He worked at General Mills in Cedar Rapids from 1976-2007. He is survived by one daughter, Susanne Rollinger of Wapello; two grandchildren; one sister, Bonnie Balichek of Oxford Junction; and a special companion, his chocolate Labrador retriever, Cooper.
