Albert Contreras

On Thursday morning, September 30th, the world, and more specifically the state of Arizona, lost a genuine hero. Albert Contreras was called by God to report back to duty and became the protector for us all. He served on the Phoenix Police Department for 32 years, and was a Motor officer for 28 of those years. After medically retiring from the department he became very involved with The 100 Club of Arizona. Every life that came into contact with Al was impacted and changed for the better. The man, the myth, the legend...to know him was to love him. A man with command presence had the heart of gold and the hugs of a teddy bear. He leaves on this earth his best friend and love of his life of 46 years, Laura, his daughters and sons-in-law Lori Walfoort (Mike Walfoort), and Jennifer DiPonzio (Nick DiPonzio), grandchildren Gabriel, Nicholas (aka Moose), Connor, Nicholas, Reese, Emily, Andie, and Max, along with many Godchildren and "Honorary kids" that he loved as his own, 4 brothers, 2 sisters, and many nieces and nephews.
