DAVID McGOWAN MUSCATINE, Iowa - David A. McGowan, 75, of Muscatine, died Friday, August 27, 2010, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 30, 2010, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Pastor Jerry Phillips will officiate the service. Casket bearers will be Justin Estes, Lloyd Clawson, Steve Preston, Darrel Preston, Darrel Preston Jr., and Melvin Preston. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, August 29, 2010, at the funeral home. Memorials may be left to Bloomington-Muscatine Friends Church. David was born on October 9, 1934, in Muscatine, the son of Ellsworth and Sarah Gideon McGowan. He married Violet Preston on July 27, 1961, in Missouri. He worked for KWPC for 25 years as chief engineer, doing announcements, and was also a DJ. He later worked at Monsanto Company as an electrician.
