ELIZABETH 'BETTY' GAETA MUSCATINE, Iowa - Elizabeth 'Betty' Margaret Gaeta, 89, of Letts, died on Tuesday, January 4, 2011. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. on Friday, January 7, 2011, at St. Mary Church, 417 Green Street. Casket bearers will be her grandchildren. Burial will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery. A funeral luncheon will be held at Gannon Hall following the committal service. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 6, 2011, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home, with a Rosary Prayer Service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home by the Catholic Daughters. Memorials may be left to American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association. 'Betty' was born on December 23, 1921, in Muscatine, the daughter of George and Elizabeth Digney Hinrichs. She married Charles Gaeta on April 19, 1942, at Camp Polk, in Louisiana. He preceded her in death on August 26, 2002. She was a member of the Ss. Mary and Mathias Parish attending St. Mary Church. the St. Malachy's of Ardon Preservation Society. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, and baking. She loved to read and also enjoyed playing cards and doing jigsaw puzzles. Those left to honor her memory include five sons, Louis C. Gaeta and wife, Priscilla, of Bethesda, Maryland, Vincent J. Gaeta and wife, Janice, of Fruitland, Charles J. Gaeta and Jeanne Golien, of Muscatine, Michael Gaeta of Davenport, and Joseph Gaeta and wife, Denise, of Muscatine; three daughters, Marie Collins and husband, Ron, of Letts, Philippa Clester and husband, Scott, of Letts, and Elizabeth Hackett and husband, Jeff, of Muscatine; 13 grandchildren, Amy Gaeta, Michael Gaeta, Brittney Gaeta, Carrie Gaeta, Tim Gaeta, Amanda Gaeta, Andrea Gaeta, Sara Gaeta, Jennifer Massey, Megan Clester, Ryan Clester, Aaron Hackett, and Nathan Hackett; and 10 great-grandchildren, Evan Hubbard, Tyler Hubbard, Xavier Gaeta, Cooper Gaeta, Teagen Gaeta, Seth Mann, Ian Mann, Ethan Massey, Marty Massey and Lydia Massey. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and three grandsons, Greg W. Collins, Kris Mann, and an infant son of Joseph and Denise Gaeta.
