Ronald Hemsted LONE TREE, Iowa - Ronald Hemsted, 72, Lone Tree, passed away Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, at his home in Lone Tree. Funeral Service will be 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services, Lone Tree. Burial will take place in Lone Tree Cemetery. Following committal services at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held and the Lone Tree American Legion. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in his memory. Ronald was born on January 21, 1939, in Iowa City, the son of Raymond G. and Esther Drake Hemsted. He was a 1958 graduate of Lone Tree High School. He married Evelyn Baker on October 4, 1959, in Iowa City. He worked in auto repair for collision and painting. He was a member of the Iowa City Eagles and enjoyed racing stock cars for 25 years in West Liberty, Columbus Junction and many other places. He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Richard Hemsted.
