The Reverend Ronald Claussen DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Rev. Ronald Claussen, 74, of Defiance, Ohio, and formerly of Muscatine, died peacefully on Friday, February 25, 2011, at the Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at the Rodenberger Funeral Home in Napoleon, Ohio. Pastor Buchsteiner will officiate the service. Interment will take place in Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Monday, February 28, 2011, and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be made to the Filling Memorial Home of Mercy of Napoleon. Ronald was born July 19, 1936, in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Erwin J.D. and Sylvia Anderson Claussen. He married Jane Marten on June 25, 1961, in Muscatine. Ron graduated with a speech/radio TV degree from the University of Omaha and a Divinity degree from Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa. He served his internship at Zion Lutheran Church in Muscatine from 1960-61 and was ordained into the ministry of the American Lutheran Church on July 1, 1962. m 1962-67, Montclair Lutheran in Denver, Colo., from 1967-75, and Bethlehem and St. Mark's Lutheran Congregations in Defiance, Ohio, from 1975-85. He also continued to serve as a pulpit supply minister to the churches in his area. From 1985 to 2001, Ron was the Director of Development and Public Relations at the Filling Memorial Home of Mercy in Napoleon, Ohio, and hosted weekly Radio Programs for Filling on WNDH, Napoleon, WONW, Defiance, and WBCO, Bucyrus. For the past 13 years, he was a clergyman and greeter for Rodenberger Funeral Home Inc. He is survived by his wife, Jane Claussen of Defiance, Ohio; children, Marty Claussen and wife, Karen, of Derry, New Hampshire, Kelley Waisner and husband, Nick, of Napoleon, Ohio, Patrik Claussen of Athens, Illinois, and Nicolas Claussen of Athens, Ohio; his grandchildren, Samantha, Amanda, and Adam Claussen, Ben Claussen, and Perri and Sarah Waisner; and a sister, Connie Claussen, of Omaha, Nebraska.
