Kenneth Clarence Korthaus Sr. MISSION, Texas - Kenneth Clarence Korthaus Sr., 81, of Mission, Texas and formerly of Durant, Iowa, died on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at his home in Mission. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at Bentley Funeral Home, Durant with a Prayer Service at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Gaylor Nelson will officiate the service. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons: Kenny D. Korthaus Sr., Jamie Dean, Robert Rust, Ronnie Woods Jr., Dustin DeKeyrel, Shawn Williams and Ryan Wells. Private family inurnment will take place in Durant Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Durant Fire-fighters Inc. in his memory. Ken was born on July 18, 1929, in Lawton, Oklahoma, the son of Clarence and Norma Bangert Korthaus. He married Betty Jane Varney on June 11, 1950, in Durant. Ken worked at Wilson Chevrolet, the Ford garage, Semsch Farms, Fischer Trucking and for the City of Durant. He retired in 1982 from Felco in Stockton, Iowa. He later worked at Price Oil in Durant. Church in Mission. He enjoyed woodworking, playing cards, socializing, driving his golf cart and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jane Korthaus of Mission, Texas; their daughters: Pamela Stecher and husband, Dean, of Stockton, Deanna DeKeyrel and husband, Donald, of Illinois City, Illinois, and Wanda Gott of Atalissa, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Marilyn Heinrich of Wilton, Iowa, Emogene Sorgenfrey of Durant, and Joyce Foy and husband, John, of Durant. He was preceded in death by parents, a son, Kenneth C. Korthaus Jr., a granddaughter, Jaidean Stecher, a great-grandson, William Wells, and his brother, Thomas Korthaus.
