Velma E. Whitney MUSCATINE, Iowa - Velma E. Whitney, 94, Muscatine, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2011, at All American Care in Muscatine. Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. on Friday, May 27, 2011, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Burial will take place in Drury Reynolds Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon until 2 p.m. on Friday, May 27, 2011, at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Pine Bluff United Methodist Church in Velma's name. Velma Eva Dunker was born on June 25, 1916, in Rock Island County, the daughter of Elmer J. and Gertrude M. Walker Dunker. On September 29, 1934, Velma was united in marriage to Carl W. Becker in Muscatine. He preceded her in death on December 19, 1951. Velma was then later united in marriage to Elwin E. Whitney on February 12, 1955, in Muscatine. He preceded her in death in February of 1987. She lived in the Buffalo Prairie area and moved to Muscatine in 1971. She was a member of Pine Bluff Methodist Church and the Women's Circle. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and cooking, but most of all, loved to spend time with her family. Velma will be deeply missed by her sons, Larry L....[more]

Velma was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; two brothers, Maynard L. Dunker and Alvin O. Dunker; and three grandchildren, Mike, Matt and Mark Becker.
