ROBERT PUGH MUSCATINE, Iowa - Robert G. Pugh, 79, of Muscatine, died on Saturday, May 28, 2011, at Trinity Terrace Park Hospice, Bettendorf. Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2011, at Zion Lutheran Church. Reverend Steven Cauley and Associate Cheryl Hollich will officiate the service. Casket bearers will be Steve Pugh, Mike Pugh, Ron Pugh, Rich Pugh, Mike Bermel, and Chad Bermel. A time of food and fellowship will follow the service at the church. Private burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church Scholarship Fund or the Lutheran Chaplaincy Outreach Program. Robert was born on September 13, 1931, in East St. Louis, Illinois, the son of Emery C. and Bernice Werner Pugh. He married Sharon Rebelsky on September 14, 1958, in Muscatine. He was a graduate of the University of Illinois. He was a US Army veteran, where he was stationed in England and served during the Korean Conflict. Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Sharon Pugh of Muscatine; his six children, Cathy Bermel and husband, Mike, of Muscatine, Steve Pugh and wife, Bylinda, of Oxford, Mississippi, Mike Pugh of Muscatine, Carol Anson and husband, Jim, of Coralville, Ron Pugh and wife, Yee, of San Francisco, California, and Rich Pugh of Bettendorf; nine grandchildren, Chad Bermel, Samantha Griffin and husband, Toby, Christina Pugh, Jennifer Boyd, Sara Anson, Rebecca Anson, Emery Pugh, Marcia Lyles, and Chasity Champion; seven great-grandchildren, Michael D. Bermel, Leah Griffin, Lani Griffin, Travis Lyles, Hunter Champion, Cody Champion, and Peyton Champion; and three sisters, Dorothy Hodel of Bellville, Illinois, Lee Davis of Crimora, West Virginia, and Shirley Weimer of Bellville, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents.
