Ruby Jean Cato

Ruby Jean Cato, affectionately known as Jean within the family, was the eldest daughter of Jesse and Seppie Cato. Jean was born May 18, 1940 in North Little Rock, Arkansas. She was educated in the Detroit Public and North Little Rock Schools, graduating from Scipio A. Jones High School in 1957. Jean was a devoted mother to Michael Cato and grandmother to Donielle Crowder, De'Von and La'Shana Cato. Jean was an active and dedicated member of St. John's CME Church. She served as a Steward and member of the Hostess Board for many years. Jean often volunteered at St. Patrick Senior Center. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, you could find her at St. Pat's feeding fellow seniors, learning the new Hustle dances and getting a light workout in the fitness center. Ruby was employed with the Third Judicial Circuit Court of Michigan. She held various positions in her 30 years and retired as an account specialist in 2002. Jean was fun loving and cherished spending time with her family and friends. She had many hobbies such as shopping, traveling, cooking and crocheting just to name a few. She was an avid gardener.
