John E. "Jack" Brennan, 80, loving husband to Eva L. (Harner) Brennan for 52 years, died Tuesday, July 28 at Artman Lutheran Home in Ambler. Mr. Brennan was born in Shamokin, PA, the son of John A. and Anna C. (Hall) Brennan, and was raised in nearby Mount Carmel. Upon graduating from Mount Carmel Catholic High in 1946, he immediately enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Tokyo, Japan as part of the U.S. Occupation Forces. He quickly attained the rank of Staff Sergeant and was attached to a unit responsible for guarding the Japanese Imperial Palace. Following his honorable discharge in 1948, Mr. Brennan attended Georgetown University under the G.I. Bill and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. degree in economics. In 1952 he began a long and successful career in the fledgling computer software industry, working as OEM Manager at Sperry Univac, National Sales Manager at Philco-Ford Computer Division, Computer and Communications Manager at Ford Motor Company, President and CEO of Keystone Computer Associates, and President of JMI Software Consultants, Inc. Throughout his life and following his retirement in 1995, Mr. Brennan was active within the church community, a member of St. Alphonsus Parish, the Knights of Columbus and Men of Malvern. Mr. Brennan is survived by his wife, Eva, their four children and their families: daughter Kathleen Rutledge and husband Brian of Livermore, CO.; son Kevin and wife Deborah of Lansdale, PA; daughter Eileen Kearney, and husband Mark and their children Seamus and Mary of Blue Bell, PA; and son Mark, and wife Joy and their children Melissa, Rachel and Jacklyn of Townesend, DE. Relatives and friends are invited to call after 9:30 AM Monday at St. Alphonsus Church, Maple Glen. Funeral Mass 11:00 AM Interment will be private near his boyhood home in upstate Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to St. Alphonsus Church, 33 Conwell Drive, Maple Glen, PA 19002 or Men of Malvern Retreat House, P.O. Box 315, Malvern, PA 19355.
