Lillie M. Hancock, 92, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Thursday morning, November 25, 2021, at Dubuque Specialty Care in Dubuque, Iowa. A public graveside service and burial celebrating Lillie's life will be held at 11 A.M., Friday, December 3, 2021, at the Andrew, Iowa Cemetery. There is no visitation. The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family. Lillie was born January 28, 1929 in Eau Claire Wisconsin to John Lund & Clara (McConkey) Lund. Lillie was the 4th child of 10. Her family moved to Bellevue, Iowa in the late 30's. Lillie grew up in the Jackson County Area. Living in Bellevue, Preston, Maquoketa and Andrew. When Lillie was 16, she got her first Job working for the Burdens Family of Dubuque as a live in Maid/Nanny on the Four Mounds Estate. When she was 19, she moved to Arlington Heights, Illinois to work for the Cushman Family. During a social dinner for soldiers she met her husband Charles Hancock. Charles at the time was serving in the Army. On November 18, 1951 Lillie and Charles were married in Andrew, Iowa. Lillie and Charles moved to Ft. Sheridan, Illinois where Charles was stationed. hter Sandra Kay Hancock. Lillie spent several years raising her daughter and fostering dozens of children. After Charles passed, Lillie went back to work doing housekeeping and light maintenance. She worked for Fox View Apartment in Carpentersville, IL until she retired. In 2016 she moved back to Iowa where she spent the rest of her days with her Sister. Lillie enjoyed needlework, crossword puzzles, word searches, camping, playing games, putting puzzles together, spending time with family, and watching game shows. Her favorite game show was Wheel of Fortune. She loved Polka Music and going to see live bands. Lillie was always at the local VFW in Dundee every Friday Night for the Fish Fry and Live Music. Those left to honor her memory are; her sister Georgia Shady of Maquoketa, IA, sister-in-law Margaret Lund of Andrew, IA. 7 grandchildren: Paul Bennett of Roselle, IL. Darlene (Derrick) Mangler of Durango, IA. Brian (Megan) Bennett of Marengo, IL. Randy (Terri) Bennett of Dyersville, IA. Jerrod (Rachel) Dotson of Miles, IA. Anita Dotson of O'Fallon, MO. Cindy Dotson of Whitehall, MI. 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, 2 sisters Clara and Thelma, 6 brothers: John Jr., Lewis, Hubert, Leslie, Ronald, and Richard. 1 great-grandchild Giovanni.
