THOMAS E. "TOMMY" THOMAS COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa - Thomas E. "Tommy" Thomas, 83, of Columbus Junction, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2011, at the Colonial Manor in Columbus Junction. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 2, 2011, at the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church, followed by a time of food and fellowship. Memorials may be directed to the Columbus Junction Methodist Church. Thomas E. Thomas was born on Jan. 11, 1928, in the Long Creek Community of Louisa County, the son of Harlan and Frances (Duncan) Thomas. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-47, serving in Saipan, in the South Pacific. Tommy married Lois Cuddeback of Washington in November 1948. She passed away in 1959. He married Marilyn Leonhard of Columbus Junction on Nov. 26, 1961, in Aledo, Ill. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his children, Linda (and Louis) Rathjen of Oxford, Barb (and Steve) Bonnichsen of Columbus Junction, Steve (and Ruth) McFarland of Iowa City, and Tom (and Chris) McFarland of Columbus Junction; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Joyce McCullough of Conesville and Loris Carden of Tucson, Ariz.
