JOY, Illinois -- Joseph E. Lafever, 78, of Joy, died on Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at Genesis - East, Davenport, Iowa.
Per his wishes, there are no services.
Memorials may be left in his name to the Mercer County Food Pantry.
Joseph was born on April 25, 1933, near Reynolds, Illinois, the son of Wesley "Curly" and Gertrude Miller Lafever.
He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict.
On August 31, 1958, he married Marilyn Feldman.
He farmed in the Joy area. He had served on the Illinois Charolais Board and several years on the Mercer County Fair Board.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marilyn Lafever of Joy; two sons and daughters-in-law, Matt Lafever and wife, Dee, and Jim Lafever and wife, Briana, all of Joy; three grandsons, Barry Lafever of Illinois City; Jacob Lafever and Logan Lafever, both of Joy; and a brother, Dave Lafever of Burlington,
He was preceded in death by his parents, Curly Lafever and Gertrude Welch; and four half-brothers.
