MARGARET ANN "CHUMMY" BELL

Margaret Ann "Chummy" Bell, 89, of Marquette, passed into eternal life Tuesday evening, January 18, 2022 at U.P. Health System-Marquette with her loving family at her side. Margaret was born on April 6, 1932 in Marquette, a daughter of the late Joseph and Ida (Normand) Savard. After attending Catholic schools in Marquette for a time, she and her family moved to Milwaukee where she graduated from St. John Cathedral High School class of 1950. She was a long time employee of Michigan Bell Telephone Company where she held positions as both operator and Miss Dig Notification System. All together she was employed with Bell for over 40 years. In her free time, Margaret was very active with the Telephone Pioneers of America and was a daily Mass attendee at St. Peter Cathedral. For many years, she and her late husband, Elwin, enjoyed wintering in Florida and were proud to be "snow birds." Margaret also volunteered at the Marquette General Hospital gift shop for many years. She was an active cat lover, spoiling many cats who she adopted over the years from the Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter. nd Gary (Mary Beth) Bell of Marquette; five grandchildren, Jarrod (Erin) Bell of Tampa, FL, Matthew (Malorie) Bell of Mandeville, LA, Taylor Bell of Sturgeon Bay, WI, Michael (Suzanne) Bell of Downingtown, PA, and Jeremy (Nichole) Bell of Grand Rapids, MI; six great grandchildren, Alessandra, Jacob, Jordan, Zoe, Jaxon, and Gryffen; many beloved nieces and nephews. Preceding Margaret in death besides her parents was her husband of 65 years, Elwin Bell who passed away on February 9, 2016; also one sister, Lois "Bunny" (Roger) Hasler. Margaret's family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, February 12th in the Bishop's Room of St. Peter Cathedral beginning at 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial in the church at 12:30 p.m. with the Rev. Msgr. Michael Steber officiating. Entombment will take place at the Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum. A luncheon will be served at the Casa Calabria immediately following the Mass.
