Robert E. Rockwell, 72, of Maquoketa, Iowa, died on Thursday, September 8, 2011, at his home in Maquoketa, Iowa. Public graveside services and burial celebrating Robert's life will be held at 11:30 A.M., Tuesday, September 13, 2011, from the Sutton Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, Iowa, where military rites will be accorded. Family and friends may visit from 9:30 A.M. to 11 A.M. on Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa. Robert Elmer Rockwell was born on January 26, 1939 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Ardith and Georgia (Edwards) Rockwell. He attended Maquoketa Community High School and then entered the military serving in the Army. He married Glenda Morgan in Maquoketa, Iowa. They later divorced. He then married Kathy Edwards in Maquoketa, Iowa. They divorced. Robert had first worked for Clinton Engines in Maquoketa and then as a millwright for Caterpillar for many years until retirement. He had also owned and operated his own bulldozing business, Rocky's Enterprises in Maquoketa. Robert was a member of the Andrew AMVETS Post #62 and the Maquoketa American Legion Post #75. s Club in Maquoketa. He enjoyed watching old westerns and tinkering with his tractor and cars. He especially loved his family and his dogs. Robert is survived by his sisters Mary (Ron) Horan of Maquoketa, IA, Rosalie (Willard) Edwards of Maquoketa, IA, and Carol Bowen of Maquoketa, IA; and 9 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Ralph. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Robert E. Rockwell memorial fund has been established.
