nstitutions with an ecumenical spirit and once held the position of president of the University YMCA board. He was a fan of Badger sports, especially Badger Basketball. A voracious reader, Steve pursued lifelong interests in science, particularly the origin of life, history, and literature. Steve retired at the age of 58, to pursue good health and to enjoy his passions which included his many friends for whom he was deeply grateful, tennis, winters on Sanibel Island in Florida, photography, painting with watercolors, and time with his family. Steve died September 26th after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer. He will be dearly missed and remembered for his kind and generous spirit, his contemplative wisdom, and his wry sense of humor. A remembrance celebration will be held on Friday, September 30, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Steve & Jan's home, 1016 Sherman Avenue, Madison. Memorials can be sent to YWCA Madison, 101 E.
