Marlene Joy Manning, age 88, of Marquette, entered eternal life on Wednesday February 16, 2022. She was born on March 7, 1933 in Marquette, daughter of the late Gladys (Peltier) Dionne and Thomas Dionne. She was raised in the home her father built in Harvey and met her husband, Ron, at a local roller rink while she was in high school. Three weeks after she graduated from Graveraet High School in 1951, she and Ron, whom she adored and was devoted for the next 70 years, were married on June 30, 1951 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Marquette. Marlene worked at Michigan Bell until the birth of her first child in 1953. During the 1960's and 70's, she worked at the Miracle Market grocery store on Third Street and as a floor clerk and seamstress at Getz's. In the 1970's, Marlene began her own business, the Drapery Den, making custom curtains and draperies. She retired in the mid-90's so she and Ron could play golf in Texas during the winter months and spend summers at the family cottage on Farmer's Lake. Marlene loved to cook and crochet. family. Preceding her in death besides her parents was her brother, Gary Dionne and a sister, Mary Gale Dionne. She is survived by her husband, Ronald Manning; daughters, Diane (Steve) Pellinen and Judy (Michael) Vonck; one son, Dean (Mary) Manning; grandchildren, Jennifer (Fran) Sevegney, Daniel (Melissa) Pellinen, Sarah (Joel) Mendelin, Kristin (Paul) Kerns, Beth (Brandon) Ballard, Amy Manning, and Brian Manning; 11 great grandchildren; a brother, Paul (Ronnee) Dionne ; sister-in-law, Sally Dionne as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The Manning family will greet relatives and friends on Tuesday, February 22nd from 11 a.m. to 1p.m. at Canale-Tonella Funeral Home and Cremation Services where a service will be held at 1 p.m. A luncheon will immediately follow in the funeral home. Spring burial will take place in the Park Cemetery. Marlene's grandchildren will act as her honorary pallbearers.
