campground sites around the country. It was not unheard of for them to travel, no matter the distance, just to have a good time camping. Music was a huge passion of Jim's that he joyously shared with others. In his younger years he taught himself to play the guitar; and used this skill as a member of the Country Goodtimers. When the group dissolved, he continued to share his love of music by playing and singing in the local nursing homes and being a member of the church choir. Upon retirement, he and his family moved to Algona in the late 80's where he served as a 4th degree member of Knights of Columbus, Golden Kiwanias, and St. Cecelia Catholic Church. Jim was also a member of the barbershop clubs for many years. Jim died Sunday, February 20, 2022 at Kossuth Regional Health Center, Algona. He was 90. He is survived by his wife, Rose of Algona; sons, Larry Sprout of Madrid, Stephen Sprout of Algona; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Sprout of Washington State, Sister Mary Herman of Dubuque; brother-in-law, Michael Platt of Mankato, MN; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents; son, Robert; siblings, June Hall, Beverly O'Brien, Joyce Elmore, and John Sprout.
