Carma L. Hemmen, 81 of Dumont passed away on Monday, October 3, 2011 at the Franklin General Hospital Nursing Facility in Hampton. Private services will be held at a later date with Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Carma L. (Boots) Hemmen was born January 12, 1930 to Ray and Edna (Stafford) Boots in Dumont, Iowa. She attended and graduated from Dumont High School in 1947 and married Harm Hemmen Jr. on March 8, 1951. After graduating from high school, Carma worked at the Hampton Hospital and later at Dr. Enna's office in Dumont. Carma and her husband Harm owned and operated Hemmen's Mobile gas station for 18 years. She graduated from LaJames Beauty School and opened her own shop, Carma's Boutique, which she operated until her retirement in 1996. She was a member of the Dumont American Legion Auxiliary and New Hope United Methodist Church of Dumont. Carma enjoyed spending time with family and friends and playing cards.
She is survived by her daughter Christie and her husband, Chris Brown of Dumont, a stepdaughter, Jo Lamar of Iowa Falls, two sisters-in-law, Frances Boots, Harriet Hemmen, four step-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many ...[more]

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a brother, Vincent (Bud) Boots, sisters Marlys Van Horn, Marian Boots, and a stillborn sister Connie.
