Robert W. "Bob" Mahraun DUBUQUE, Iowa--Robert W. "Bob" Mahraun, 63, of Dubuque and formerly of Cedar Rapids, died on Monday, October 3, 2011, at home from complications after a battle with brain cancer. Funeral Service 11 a.m. on Friday, October 7, 2011, at Grandview United Methodist Church. Rev. Tom C. Shinkle will be officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Muscatine, Iowa. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday, October 7, 2011, at the church. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Rd, Dubuque, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Hope Lodge, 750 Hawkins Dr, Iowa City, Iowa 52242 Bob was born on March 4, 1948 in Muscatine, the son of Robert and Lucille Windman Mahraun. He graduated from Muscatine High School and Community College. He received his undergraduate at UNI in Accounting and his Masters at the University of Iowa in Finance. He worked as Controller Accountant for Cryovac in Cedar Rapids for many years, Huntsman in Seattle and Color-Box/Georgia Pacific in Dubuque. Methodist Church He married Barbara Helen Plattenburger on June 12, 1970, and she passed away in September of 2009. On January 11, 1997, he married Cheryl D. Root. He was an avid NASCAR fan cheering on #17 Matt Kenseth and attending many races. He loved to read and attend book clubs and also liked playing Euchre at the Eagles Club. Bob is survived by his wife, Cheryl Mahraun, a son, Kevin Mahraun and wife, Kathy, of Port Byron, Illinois; a daughter, Janine Mahraun and her partner, Missy Sites, of Fredrick, Maryland; a grandson & Kevin & Kathy's son, Kameron Mahraun, who are also expecting a daughter in November; his brother, Donald Mahraun; a sister-in-law, Jan Mahraun; and several nieces, nephews, and good friends, Jim Podgorski and Larry Root. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and his first wife.
