Margaret Neal was born on May 21, 1934 in Brewton, Alabama to Ed and Stella McCorvey. She attended and graduated from Southern Normal with her sisters. In 1965, Margaret relocated to her beloved San Diego, California. Once she decided to put down permanent roots, three of her sisters - Kate, Ida, and Jessie and their families joined her. Margaret loved spending time with her children and family. In 2000, Margaret and her sisters hosted the first San Diego McCorvey Family Reunion with over 100 family descendants. A passion for being a servant leader led Margaret to achieve her degree as a Registered Nursing from the University of Phoenix. She embraced her job with loving care for over 31 years until she retired from Scripps Mercy Hospital in 1998. Margaret was proud to be a nurse and she was an active member of the National Black Nurses Association. While living in San Diego, Margaret met and married Charles Neal in May 21, 1970. nds with the majestic views of Sweetwater Lake. Margaret was an amazing cook and she loved to watch her family enjoy her culinary delights. She loved dancing, playing cards, shopping, traveling to Mexico, Hawaii, and across the United States with family and friends. Margaret accepted the Lord at an early age and as an adult joined Christian Fellowship United Church of Christ. Margaret enjoyed serving on the Women's Ministry and helping others in the community. On February 19, 2022, Margaret Neal was called home to our Lord and Savior. Cassandra was with her mother when she passed away peacefully after a long illness, dementia. She will be forever remembered as a kind, thoughtful, generous, strong, courageous, and humorous woman. We are thankful for Margaret's legacy - her family. She is survived by three daughters (Barbara McCorvey, Cassandra Lee-Austin, Debbie Neal); one son (Robert Lee Jr); grandchildren: Clifford Jr, Autumn, Dana (Montario), Rosalind, Mikala, Robert III, Tracy, Melanie, Kimberly, Paul, Jineal; great grandchildren; sister (Jessie Allen); brother-in-law Malcom (Eva) Neal; nieces; nephews; cousins; god daughters; and a host of extended family by heart. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles Neal, sons Clifford Coleman, Charles Neal II, and her siblings Joe, Dan, Allen, Grover Lee, Carrie, Carlee Bell, Roberta, Ethel, Katie, Ida, and Ernestine. Margaret was loved by so many who will deeply miss her everyday friendship and love. Poem: The future of nursing lies in its past with lessons learned and models overturned. To be a guardian of nursing's past requires prerequisite love for the profession and unceasing belief in the limitless beyond where the adventurous dream of living.
