Marlyce Maude (Jones) Bauer was born on March 16, 1931 in Delafield Township, Minnesota to Fred and Rosine (Wahl) Jones. She was raised in Sioux Valley, Minnesota and attended the Sioux Valley Schools. After high school she attended Business College in Mankato, Minnesota. Before her degree was completed, Marlyce assisted her family during a tragic farm accident involving her Dad. During her time helping on the farm, she also worked at the Lumber Yard in Lakefield, Minnesota. Marlyce was engaged to her high school sweetheart in September of 1951 and during the time that she waited for Harold to get out of the service, she was employed at Sherburn Public Schools as a secretary. On June 22, 1952, Marlyce was united in marriage to Harold Bauer at the First Baptist Church in Worthington, Minnesota. They made their first home in Sherburn in a hotel with two rooms. This marriage was blessed with four children, Gerald Lynn, Betty Lou, Kenneth Lee, and Kathryn Lynette. After the birth of their fourth child, Marlyce took up reflexology to better help the health needs of her daughter. ist and that in turn gave her the opportunity to also help many other people. She also worked with the Cottonwood County as a Home Health Aide. Marlyce and Harold moved to Windom, Minnesota in 1961. On Saturday, October 8, 2011, Marlyce suffered a severe heart attack and after 2 ½ days of not moving, on Monday, October 10, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. with her family by her side, Marlyce opened her eyes, lifted her hands, and took her last breath as she went to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 80. Marlyce was a member of the First Baptist Church in Windom where she was very active and served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was an AWANA secretary for 26 years and also a member of the Home Extension Club. Marlyce enjoyed camping; collecting things, going to auctions, and giving back and foot rubs. She will be remembered for baking bread and cakes and helping others whenever she could. Her greatest enjoyments in life were her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her loving husband of fifty-nine years, Harold Bauer of Windom; four children, Jerry Bauer and his wife, Sharon, of Windom; Betty Smith and her husband, Dallas, of Windom; Ken Bauer and his wife, Marcia, of Glencoe; and Kathy Dick and her husband, Dennis, of Papillion, NE; twelve grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and one on the way; one brother, Wesley Thomas Jones and his wife, Pearl, of Lakefield; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Rosine Jones. Blessed be the memory of Marlyce M. Bauer.
