A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at First Presbyterian Church, Algona. Inurnment will be held in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. The services will be live-streamed on Oakcrest Funeral Services' Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/oakcrestfuneralservices Janice Paulina Hudson was born on June 23, 1934 to Oran T. and Elsie (Egel) Hudson in Burt, Iowa. Janice was baptized in 1934 at the Presbyterian Church in Irvington, Iowa. She grew up in Algona and attended Algona Community Schools until her family moved to Armstrong, Iowa in 1952. Janice graduated from Armstrong High School in 1954. After graduation she worked as a telephone operator in Armstrong and in Fairmont, Minnesota. In 1955, Janice met Richard Lappin in Fairmont, Minnesota. The couple lived in Minnesota, where they started their family. In 1971 they moved to Algona. , serving as the secretary and president of the league for several years. She enjoyed watching television, visiting with friends, and especially spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor. Janice entered the Good Samaritan home in June of 2018 where she was grateful for the care received and the friends she made. It was there that she passed away on April 14th, 2022, after a short battle with cancer. She is survived by her children, Lori Hanchett of Algona, Lisa (Rick) Thompson of San Tan Valley, Arizona, Larry (Carol Laubenthal) Lappin of Algona, and Lonny (Jennifer) Lappin of Johnston, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, brother Larry Hudson of Algona, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Janice was preceded in death by husband, Richard, parents, son-in-law Jason Hanchett, siblings Nancy (Lloyd) Bollinger and Inez Jane (Ed) Potratz.
