Darline Elaine Henkel

Darline Elaine (Ladwig) Henkel was born on September 10, 1929, the daughter of Albert and Hulda (Blunk) Ladwig in Denison, Iowa. She was baptized on March 17, 1930, and later confirmed her faith on March 25, 1945, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Darline attended a country school near her home place. She married Herman Henkel on October 16, 1946, at Zion Lutheran Church. Darline was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church. She kept busy being a mother and always helping on the farm. Darline knew hard work in her garden and canning her produce. She also spent time working as a cook at the Mapleton Nursing Home. Darline enjoyed planting flowers, feeding the birds and playing cards with friends. Above all, she cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren. Darline passed away peacefully on April 26, 2022, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison at the age of 92 years, seven months and 16 days. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 29, 2022, at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison. Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Zion Lutheran Church with interment in Crawford Heights Memory Gardens all in Denison.
