Valene Dawson was born in Omaha, Nebraska to Roy and Evelyn Dawson on June 4th 1960. She attended Northwest High School, graduating in 1978. She went on to receive her Associates Degree from Metropolitan Community College. Valene spent the last ten years as a Customer Service Representative in Technical Support at Cox Communications. Valene's greatest passion was her family - that was her strength. For more than 30 years, she served as the "Family Historian", coordinating the family tree and hosting many family reunions, including the great 1992 Dew-Dawson reunion where more than 200 relatives were in attendance. She was her happiest when surrounded by family. As such, she transitioned surrounded by those nearest and dearest to her. She is preceded in death by father Roy Dawson, mother Evelyn Dawson, sister Ann Dawson, aunts Venita Dawson-Walker, Flossie Mae Dawson-Wilson, uncles Everett, Lewis "Junior", Gustave "Gus" and Felix Dawson, and a host of cousins and other relatives. Funeral services will be held 9:30am Saturday July 23rd, 2022 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park located at 7909 Mormon Bridge Road in Omaha, NE. Pastor De'Sean Young of Kingdom Builders Christian Center will be presiding. Family and friends are invited to repast at 4535 Bedford Avenue at 12 pm.
