James Joseph McKinney, III was born February 15, 1940 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to James and Catherine McKinney. He is survived by his beloved wife Margaret of 51 years of marriage. His children, James Davis, Deborah Patterson, Tara Raygor, and James McKinney "JJ" IV, 13 grandchildren and 2 great grand children. He lived in Grand Rapids until he enlisted in the USA Air force. He served 24 years and retired in good standing. James served twice in Vietnam, twice in Thailand, Africa, Greenland, Spain and many years in different States in the US. He retired in Austin from Bergstrom AFB. He worked at the TV repair service on the Base until it closed. Then he started another career at Motorola for 10 years then permanently retired. He was always ready to help anyone that needed help with anything. He loved visiting family in Canada and all over the US. Jim loved to play golf and also had a great group of poker friends that he enjoyed getting together with on a monthly basis. He was an Usher at St. Catherine's and St. Anthony's Catholic Church for over 20 years until he was unable to serve. Jim was diagnosed with Parkinson's, liver disease, and Dementia. d living home and received personal and special care the last 1 1/2 years. The last month of his life was very rough but he was not suffering until the last few weeks but was sedated. He had an army of people praying for him. God took him home on August 11,2022. Jim, may the Angels take you to Paradise. God bless you for your service. We will all miss you terribly but we know Jesus is taking care of you.
