e rest of us continue on with our heads down, not seeing the pain that exists all around us. We are blessed in the U.P. to have two stellar services in our back yard, our local VA and the Jacobetti Home for Veterans. Our community owes deep and heartfelt gratitude to the silent individuals in these two facilities who step up recognize the need and follow through helping our communities homeless. Walter was born in May 1945 in Flint, MI to Donald and Katie (Hobson) Yax, graduating from Vulcan High School and then serving honorably in the US Navy riverine patrol/assault boats in Vietnam. Perhaps you will join me in closing a chapter of one homeless veteran while we keep our eyes open for the next Lazarus in our life at Walter's graveside service at Norway Township Cemetery on Wednesday, September 14th at 10:30 a.m. with members from Iron Mountain American Legion Post # 50 providing military honors. Canale-Tonella Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Marquette is assisting with arrangements where memories of Walter may be shared at www.canalefuneral.com
