Willie Mae Williams was born on October 23, 1929, in Marion, AL, to Joe and Rosie Bennett. She moved to Omaha, NE, in 1952.
She was married to Richard Williams, and together they had 6 children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a number of great-great-grandchildren.
Willie Mae was a member of St. Matthew Baptist Church, where she served as Program Chair, and was a long-time member of the "Soul Seekers" singing group, where she served as Booking Manager.
She started such programs as: the Mother's Day Program, Easter in Omaha, and Mississippi Night. She was instrumental in hosting other programs, such as "Saturday Morning Gospel" on KLNG, and "Filled with Soul" on KETV. She has worked with all groups, both local and nationwide, and served as Program Chairperson for Nebraska Singers' Association.
Willie Mae enjoyed the work she did for the Lord and it showed as she proceeded to work as a Promoter in the Omaha area. She believed in the Bible when it said "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord!"[more]
