RONALD E. "RON" PROVOST

Ronald E. "Ron" Provost, 78, of Marquette, went to be with his Lord and God on Tuesday morning, October 11, 2022 at U.P. Health System-Marquette. Ron was born on January 11, 1944 at St. Mary's Hospital in Marquette, a son of the late Edward and Lida (Mahaffey) Provost and was a lifelong Marquette resident. He was a 1961graduate of Bishop Baraga High School. Ron was formerly employed at Northern Michigan University for approximately 39 years both in the Registrar's Office and in the warehouse. Ron was a member of the Negaunee Elks Lodge for about 50 years, was very active in the St. Vincent de Paul Society for 20 years and was a member of St. Peter Cathedral for 40 years where he was a Mass server for over 30 years. Survivors include his very special partner, Jacy Williams; one son, Pastor Daniel (Nicole) Provost of Newton, IA; granddaughter, Julia Provost; a brother, Michael Provost and sister, Darcelle Nyman. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. es and friends on Thursday, October 13th from 4 to 6 p.m. at Canale-Tonella Funeral Home and Cremation Services where a parish prayer service will be recited at 4 p.m. and rosary recitation at 6 p.m. Visitation will also take place on Friday, October 14th in the Bishop's Room at St. Peter Cathedral beginning at 11 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon in the cathedral with the Rev. Msgr. Michael Steber officiating and Deacon Dean Jackson assisting. A luncheon will be served in the church hall immediately following the Mass. Burial will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Pat Dooley, Charles Hawes, Andy Wasilewski and Matthew Williams. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, 2119 Presque Isle Ave., Marquette, MI 49855 or St. Peter Cathedral, 311 W.
