Herbert Roe Purvis

Herbert (Hardy) Roe Purvis, 75, of Buda, Texas went to be with the Lord on December 15, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. Hardy was born to Captain Hardy Purvis and Mae Purvis in Houston, Texas on September 12, 1947. He graduated from Lamar High School in 1965 before joining the United States Marine Corps. He enlisted at the age of 18, where he served with the 26th Marines Regiment, 2nd Battalion, Golf Company, 3rd Platoon. He fought in seventeen combat operations. He was awarded the Silver Star Vietnam Gallantry Cross Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Presidential Unit Citation and the Rifle Sharp Shooter Badge. Sergeant Purvis was honorably discharged from the Marines in 1969. He continued his education, earning a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas in 1973. Hardy worked in commercial real estate, where he met his wife Elaine. They married in Houston in December of 1983 and moved to Buda, Texas shortly after, where they raised their family. Hardy was an avid outdoorsman who loved bird hunting and fly fishing. One of the greatest joys of his life was spending time in God's creation with his girls, son in laws and grandkids. Hardy always sought opportunities to introduce others into the activities he loved. He was an active member of the community and member of King's Cross Church. Hardy had an unwavering faith in God and his faith only grew stronger in his later years of life. He wanted everyone to know the blessed assurance he had that he would be with Jesus when he closed his eyes the last time. Hardy was predeceased by his father, mother and sister Desma. He is survived by his wife Elaine, his daughters Elizabeth Stahlman (Chad) of New Braunfels, Emily Kimbro (Ryan) of Dripping Springs, his son Lucas Purvis, his grandchildren, Colter Kimbro, Jade Stahlman, Cambell Kimbro, Collier Kimbro, Marigold Stahlman, Lottie Stahlman, his brother Burl Purvis (Mary) of Buda, his sisters Linda Purvis-Ellis (Jimmy) of Dallas and Dian Peavey (Rich) of Austin.
