Raquel "Rocky" Estela Panzino
Raquel "Rocky" Estela Panzino, 34 passed on Monday, January 23 at Thunderbird Banner Hospital after having a stroke. Rocky's family chose to donate her organs and gave the gift of life to five people. Thunderbird Banner Hospital and the Donor Network organized an Honor Walk for her in remembrance of her generosity. She leaves her wife, Leandra Panzino, her daughter Estela, her father Jim Panzino and wife Paula and grandmother Mary Panzino. She leaves her siblings Lynette, Oscar, Daniel, Adrian, Gianna and Sage as well as many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her mother Blanca, her great grandparents Mary and Charles Panzino and her grandfather Vincent Panzino who she affectionately called "Gringo". Born in Phoenix, AZ June 23, 1988, Rocky spent her early years traveling to Tewksbury, MA to spend time with her grandparents and great grandparents. She often gave her great grandfather Charles Panzino too much ice cream which angered her great grandmother Mary who was from Calabria, Italy. Rocky graduated from Glendale High School where she met her soulmate Leandra at choir practice. After her mother died, Rocky helped raise her brothers Oscar, Daniel and Adrian. Rocky was a fiery stubborn presence and a loving, giving soul. She enjoyed collecting crystals, cooking, singing, dancing and most of all her daughter Estela. The viewing will held Saturday February 11th at 10:00 am at Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary and Cemetery at 6500 East Bell Road in Scottsdale, AZ, 85254. The memorial service will start at 11:00 am.
