Mildred "Milly" J. Flynn (nee Headley) 80, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2023 surrounded by her loving family; devoted mother of Michael (Michele) Flynn, Cindy (Jim) Palmer, and Kevin (Jenna) Flynn; adoring grandmother of Kailey Flynn, Kyle and Olivia Palmer, Madison, Kaden and Colton Flynn; cherished sister of the late Sandy Gulvas, Richard, Robert, Walter, George, Ronald Headley and Bonnie Finley; affectionate grandmother to fur babies Taze, Sparky and Arrow; fond aunt to caring nieces and nephews; considerate friend to so many. Milly was born on September 19, 1942, to Luther and Florence Headley in Whiting Indiana. She was a longtime resident of Highland, Indiana until spending her last few months in Arizona to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She was a graduate of Whiting High School, Class of 1960 and a graduate of St. Margaret Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1963. Her nursing career spanned over 44 years, working 11 years at St. Margaret Hospital in Hammond, Indiana and 33 years at Community Hospital in Munster, Indiana as an intensive care and critical care nurse who impacted so many lives with her care and compassion. to describe the remarkable woman she was. A special, and very spunky lady who touched the hearts and lives of others. She will be remembered as a kind, thoughtful, loyal, and extremely giving person who always put others first, a quality dedicated to her profession and her unwavering love and devotion to her family. She lived each and every day selflessly for her children and grandchildren and her generosity was endless. Her life was filled with integrity and her legacy will live on in those she loved. She will be greatly missed every single day by all her family and friends and will forever be in our hearts. A celebration of life will be held in her honor on a date and time to be determined.
