orked for Souris River Telecommunications. He later accepted a job with ENMR Telephone, in Clovis New Mexico, then relocated back to Colorado Springs and worked as a consultant at GVNW. He ended his career on a high note as the CEO of Valley Telecom Group in Willcox, AZ, where he was a respected member of the community for 17 years. Throughout his career, he worked closely with the New Mexico state legislature on regulatory bills and government relations. He also served as a member of the Northern Cochise Community Hospital board for many years. In his personal time, Steven was a member of the Willcox Elks Lodge #2131 and American Legion Riders, and enjoyed riding his Harley, attending concerts, playing golf, taking his sand rail to the dunes, and gathering with family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Cheri Metts, of Pearce, AZ, his daughters Jackie Murphy, of Sierra Vista AZ. Jessica Metts, Portland OR. and Rachel Metts, Tucson, AZ., his parents John and Judy Metts of Artesia NM, father-in-law, Patrick (Ellie) Dye, Monument CO., his brothers Brad (Teresa) and Scott (Tami) Metts, Colorado Springs, CO, his sister Teri (Brian) Gilbert, Artesia NM, and his sister Kyla (Michael) Butts, Farmington, NM., Sisters-in-Law, Angela (Albert) Roper, Gunnison CO, Leslie Dye, Monument, CO, Brother-in-Law, Eldon Dye, Palmer Lake, CO. Nieces and nephews, Cory, Danny, Mollie, Kevin and Dylan Metts, Ryan (Noelle) and Jared Gilbert, Sean (Ashley) and Lauren Butts, Josh and Ryan (Lauren) Roper, Alex Dye. He is predeceased by his brother Michael John Metts, his mother-in-law, Diann Dye, maternal grandparents, Lantford and LaVerne Meissner. His paternal grandparents, Charles and Beverly Metts. His kindness, generosity, and sense of humor were hallmarks of his character. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
