John Henry Bradshaw

STSCS John Henry Bradshaw, USN, (Ret.), 83, of Middletown, RI, passed away on October 21, 2023. He was the husband of Barbara (Chapman) Bradshaw. Born in Benton, AR, he was the son of the late John and Rose (Paul) Bradshaw. John was a proud retiree of the U.S. Navy. Throughout his distinguished 20-year career with the Navy, he demonstrated a passion for submarines, with an expertise in sonar technology. His remarkable skills and leadership earned him the prestigious rank of Sonar Technician Submarines Senior Chief (STSCS). Beyond his military career, John had a deep love for gardening. He found solace and joy in cultivating beautiful plants and nurturing his garden with his honey, Barbara. His green thumb was admired by all who visited his home. He and Barbara shared fond memories, especially those of travelling cross country with Barbara's brother Arnold and his wife Debbie in their RV. , of Provincetown, MA, Lori (Asa) Montgomery, of Middletown, his brothers and sister; Colin Bradshaw, Russell Bradshaw, and Judy Bradshaw. He additionally leaves 17 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren with one on the way. John is preceded in death by his daughter, Carole Bradshaw, and his stepson, John V. Golden, Jr. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023, in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with visitation from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 10:00 AM in the funeral home. Burial will follow in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Donations in his memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Foundation.
