Andrew Simonetti

Andrew Simonetti, 77, of Portsmouth, Rhode Island died in his home on February 2, 2024. Andrew was born in Camogli, Liguria, Italy on March 29, 1946. He is preceded in death by his father Benjamin Simonetti and mother Clorinda (Magnasco) Simonetti of New York City. Andrew is survived by cousin Tiziana Barbagelata and her sons Andrea and Massimiliano Barbagelata of Camogli, Liguria, Italy, cousin Maria Teresa Sanguineti of Rome, Italy, and cousin Giovanna Sanguineti of Sestri Levante, Italy. Andrew lived in Italy in his younger years and moved to the United States with his parents where he became a US citizen. Andrew graduated from City College of New York with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering around 1968. After graduation Andrew worked in data encryption in New York and later worked at City College of New York. In 2002 Andrew accepted a position at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, Rhode Island where he worked until the time of his death. He was well versed in the bible and faithful to his God. Andrew volunteered at his election polling place in New York City and at the Newport Classical Music Festival. Andrew enjoyed cooking and listening to opera. Family and friends are invited to gather before Mass at Connors Funeral Home at 55 West Main Rd., Portsmouth, RI on Monday March 11th at 9:00. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday March 11th at 10:00 in St. Anthony's Church, 2836 E Main Rd, Portsmouth, RI. Burial will be held on Tuesday March 12th at 1:00 in Calvary Cemetery, 49-02 Laurel Hill Blvd., Woodside, NY, 11377.
