ising flowers, and tending to their many shrubs and trees. Margaret was an accomplished cook and passed those skills to all her children. Margaret was an avid reader and lifelong learner taking classes at the Octagon for the Arts, and Iowa State University. She loved the arts, attending many performances at C.Y. Stephens and the Des Moines Metro Opera. Margaret had a passion for travel as she and Bob took numerous Elderhostel trips, international vacations and frequent weekend and holiday visits to her children's homes over the years. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She leaves us with many fond memories, especially her uncanny ability to make things "fun." We will think of her with the satisfaction of an afternoon coffee, a morning walk, an appreciation of a well-made meal, the beauty of a rural landscape, a tasty sweet and the companionship of our furry pets. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Robert Borgmeyer. Margaret leaves behind her son, Jeffry Borgmeyer, of Ames, IA; her son Kevin (Kari) Borgmeyer, of Madison, WI; her daughter Sara (Ron) Borchardt, of Minneapolis, MN; and son, Neal (Angie) Borgmeyer, of Indianola, IA. She lives on in her nine grandchildren: Kate (Chris) Cremons, Jennifer (Jocelyn) Borchardt, Ryan (Elena) Borchardt and Christian (Kiri) Borchardt; Megan, Paige, and Logan Borgmeyer; and Jeb and Alice Borgmeyer. For all who knew and loved Margaret, please join us for a Celebration of Life on May 21, 2024, from 1:00 - 4:00 pm on the grounds of Northcrest Community in the Fireside Townhome, located near the 20th Street entrance across from Ames High School.
