Mary Wild

Mary Wild, age 94, of the Town of Antigo, died June 12, 2024 at her home under the care of her family and LeRoyer Hospice. She was born February 26, 1930 in Antigo, daughter of the late Lukas and Anna (Trochta) Sikora. She married Leonard Wild on September 11, 1948 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Antigo and they celebrated 71 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on June 20, 2020. Mary graduated from Antigo High School in 1946 and from Langlade Normal School in 1948. She taught at several rural schools in the Antigo area for seven years. She later served as secretary and treasurer of Wild Seed Farms, Inc., until retirement. She enjoyed her years of teaching, bookkeeping for the family farm, as well as gardening, housekeeping and, along with Leonard, raising their family of seven children. Mary was an active member of SS Mary and Hyacinth Catholic Church, St. Mary Rosary Society and held the office of treasurer for the funeral committee for many years. She was also a member of the Langlade County Genealogical Society and the Langlade County Historical Society. The highlights of their trips to Europe in 1988 and 1991 were visits to Czechoslovakia, the homeland of Mary's parents, and seeing Pope John Paul II give his message and blessing to all in St. Peter's Square. They also enjoyed many winters in their Mesa, Arizona home. Survivors include three daughters, Rosemary (Stephen) Servi of Antigo, Karen (Tom) Novak of Antigo, Shirley (Joseph) Wanserski of Plover; four sons, Thomas (Caroline) Wild of Antigo, John Wild of Madison, Robert (Cathy) Wild of Antigo, Kenneth (Susie) Wild of Arizona; 17 grandchildren, Dan (Connie) Wild, Matt (Jen) Wild, Jenna (Rick) Marshall, Kimberly Wild, Jonathan (Stephanie) Wild, Stephanie (Jacub) Wild, Trevor Wild, Adam Servi, Jason (Kristi) Servi, Heather (fiancé David) Servi, Jessie (Joe) Marshall, Annie (Jordan Breitenfeldt) Novak, Craig (Stacie) Wild, Sara (Jon) Radke, Carl (Stephanie) Wanserski, Abby (Alex) Lena, Stephen Wanserski; 27 great-grandchildren, Alayna, Walker and Sawyer Knapp, Danielle and Julia Wild, Madison and Eleanor Wild, Owen, Paislee and Easton Marshall, Rowan Perkins, Alaina Wild, Sophia Wild, Willow and Scarlett Servi, Colton and Wyatt Marshall, Zoe and Aubrey Breitenfeldt, Linnea and Ryker Wild, Hayden and Sadie Radke, McKinley, Roslyn, Monroe and Maverick Wanserski. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Cris Knapp; great-granddaughter, Kennedy Radke; sisters, Anne (Fred) Fleischman, Frances (John) Zimmerman, Helen (James) Seis; and brothers, Felix (Margaret), Frank (Eleanor), Laddie (Evelyn), Joseph (Maryann), and John (Arlene). A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 18 at 11:30 a.m. at SS Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Hoffmann officiating. Burial will take place in Queen of Peace Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday at the Bradley Funeral Home from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at which time we will pray the Rosary.
