Sangva Tep, born on May 5, 1928, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, was a remarkable individual whose life was defined by love, independence, and unwavering faith. From her early years, Sangva embodied a deep concern for her family, a trait that would shape her entire existence. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her constant priority, always coming before her own needs. Growing up with her younger brother Ngauv Voeung Lay, Sangva learned the values of family unity and compassion. Her upbringing instilled in her a strong sense of independence--a characteristic that would define her throughout her life. She loved plants, finding solace in nurturing green life around her. Sundays were spent at the Jerusalem Cambodian Evangelical Church in Lowell, MA, where she found spiritual fulfillment and community. One of Sangva's closest companions was Sam Chea, a friend with whom she formed a lifelong bond. Together, they shared their joys and sorrows, creating lasting memories rooted in friendship and mutual support. Sangva Tep had a diverse taste in entertainment, enjoying Cambodian, Chinese, Korean, and Thai movies and shows. Occasionally, she indulged in playing slot machines, finding simple pleasures in these moments of leisure. A woman of deep faith, Sangva found solace in reading her Bible daily and listening to gospel music. Her favorite saying, "Turn your life over to Jesus," encapsulated her belief in surrendering to a higher purpose and finding strength in spirituality. Known for her selflessness, Sangva was generous to a fault, always willing to lend a hand to those in need. She held honesty as a core principle, valuing truthfulness in all aspects of life. However, she disliked when her children argued over trivial matters or when others attempted to dictate her actions. Sangva Tep was the matriarch of her family, a role she cherished deeply. She was known to go to great lengths for her loved ones, believing that nothing was impossible if pursued with determination and love. Her resilience and can-do attitude inspired all who knew her, leaving an indelible mark on her family and community alike. In her later years, despite any challenges she faced, Sangva remained steadfast in her devotion to her family and her faith. Her legacy of love, independence, and unwavering strength continues to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
