James E. Hardy, 74, passed away at his Montgomery residence with his family by his side on August 2, 2024. He was born in Washington, January 6, 1950, to Thomas and Margery (Hopewell) Hardy. On November 16, 1993, he married the love of his life, Anda Kay (Russell) Hardy; and she survives.
James was a Washington High School graduate who went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps. He was an engineer for the CSX Railroad for over forty years. A true outdoorsman, James enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was a talented wood carver and often made special gifts for his wife for special occasions. He attended the Christ United Methodist Church.
Those who now mourn James' passing include his wife, Kay Hardy and his daughter, Mikayla Russell. He leaves one sister: Sharon (Sherman) Ballou; nephew, Sheldon (Faith Ann) Ballou; nieces: Sara (Jason) Coomer; Sally (Brian) Long all of Cave City, Kentucky; and Sherry (Jeff) Reed of Bowling Green, Kentucky. Additionally, James had several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Margery Hardy.
