Dorothy L. Shestak

Dorothy L. Shestak, of Pickerel, died on December 15, 2024 at Rosalia Gardens. She was 92 years old. She was born on June 1, 1932 in Mount Vernon, IA, a daughter of Frank and Agnes (Pospisil) Biderman. She married Norman on August 23, 1950 at St. John Catholic Church in Lisbon, IA. He preceded her in death on November 7, 2014. She was a graduate of Mount Vernon, IA High School, class of 1950. Dorothy and Norman began farming in Cedar Rapids, IA. They later moved to the Bryant area in 1963, where they continued to dairy farm. Together they operated Townline Feeds in Bryant in the early 70's. They moved to Big Twin Lake in Pickerel in 1983, where Dorothy loved drinking her coffee while viewing the lake. In the early years of their marriage, when time allotted, Dorothy loved to square dance with Norman. Dorothy enjoyed canning, sewing, and especially cooking for and, looking after her grandchildren. She loved dogs having cared for Lily, Rusty and Ally all throughout her life. Dorothy had a tender heart, especially for animals and small children. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by daughters, Stacie Shestak and infant Laura; sons, Raymond Shestak and Richard Shestak; grandchildren, Edward Shestak and Brent Cockrell; brother, Larry Biderman; and sister, Adeline Gaimari. A private memorial service will be held in the summer.
