nd friends. He enjoyed woodworking and tinkering around in his garage fixing things. Doug also took tremendous pride in keeping the lawn looking good. One of Doug's favorite things to do was participate in or watch any activities his grandchildren were doing. Doug was an elder in the Presbyterian Church and a member of the building and grounds committee at Northminster Presbyterian Church. Growing up on a farm, Doug learned many talents. One of them was fixing things. He was always there helping family and friends work on projects, big or small. When finished he would always say his famous phrase "I should have been an engineer." Doug's humor and wit were intertwined in his daily life. He always tried to get a smile or lighten the mood with one of his corny dad jokes or a funny saying. This is what we will miss the most. Doug is survived by his wife of 62 years, Janet Lawrence. Sons Mark (Anne) Lawrence of Omaha, NE. Scott (Christine) Lawrence of Ames, IA. Grandchildren: Steven (Alissa) Lawrence of Ames, IA. Natalie Lawrence of Ames, IA. Vic Lawrence of Omaha, NE and Elizabeth Lawrence of Lincoln, NE. Great granddaughter Brooklyn Lawrence. His Sister Norma Borkowski of Ft. Meyers, FL. Doug is preceded in death by his parents Hildath and Elmer Lawrence and his brother David Lawrence. The family would like to thank the staff at Maggie's Place and Northridge Village for their care of Doug these last few months. In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to the Douglass Lawrence Memorial fund at Northminster Presbyterian Church, Ames
