ade Iowa their home. A few years later, daughter Liliana joined the family, the apple of the young couple's eyes! Rigoberto was something of a semi-professional futbol legend in the greater Des Moines area. He was lovingly known as Dago in that community and could be found at any number of pitches playing pick up games or league games at every opportunity he could. He was a lifelong FC Barcelona fan. Rigo loved salsa dancing with Heather, going fishing, going for walks or "adventures" with Lili, hiking trails, riding bikes, basically anything that would allow him to be outside and enjoying the weather. He kept a large vegetable garden every summer. At the age of 36, Rigoberto was diagnosed with colorectal cancer. During those 8 plus years, he spent no more than one year in total in remission. Frequent medical appointments, surgeries and treatments took their toll, and he was forced to give up work and futbol. He was a fighter who was committed to staying and caring for his young family as long as he could. At his essence, Rigoberto was the consummate family man. He loved his wife and daughter, Lili, more than anything. He was a social person who never met a stranger, he was very passionate, sometimes stubborn (one of his nurses described him as spicy), but exemplified strength and humility through trials and tribulations with life and health. Rigoberto is survived by his wife of 16 years, Heather Osorio, along with their daughter, Liliano Osorio, both of Grimes; his mother, Alejandra Osorio; his father, Rigoberto Osorio, Sr.; his brothers Elmer (Allie) Osorio and Samuel (Carolina) Osorio; his nephews, Christian Osorio, Sammy Osorio, Jr., and Jonathan Osorio; his cousins, Misael (Angie) Guevara and Fredy (Mirian) Fernandez; his mother-in-law, Gail Dubberke; his brothers-in-law, Ben Dubberke and Michael Dubberke; his beloved canines, Canelo and Zoey Osorio; along with extended family members and friends. Rigoberto was preceded in death by his grandmother and grandfather Osorio, as well as his grandmother and grandfather Contreras; and his father-in-law, Richard Dubberke.
