Antonio G Alves Sousa (Tony), a devoted husband, father, proud grandfather, brother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 70, surrounded by his family in his home. Tony was a native of Posto Santo Terceira, Azores and the oldest of four children. At just 11 years old, he immigrated to the United States with his family, first settling in Rhode Island. In time, his journey brought him to California, where he eventually made Gustine and Los Banos his home. In 1975, fate stepped in during a simple moment at Denny's, where he met the love of his life, Barbara. Their meeting sparked a lifelong partnership built on love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Together, they created a home filled with warmth, connection, and endless memories. Tony dedicated his life to hard, honest work. In his younger years, he worked on local dairies milking cows before building a career as a cement mason with the San Jose Laborers Union and later the Fresno Laborers Union, from which he proudly retired. s. A true social butterfly, and a devoted Rams fan - Tony never met a stranger. He loved fishing, especially taking trips to the coast, fishing off the wharf, giving nicknames to any one he met, grocery shopping, attending the bullfights and Portuguese celebrations, he enjoyed long family dinners and holidays together, camping and hunting with his son and hosting game nights with friends--always surrounded by laughter, storytelling, and connection. Mr. Sousa is survived by his wife, Barbara, of 48 years; his son, TJ (Katrina); granddaughters, Taylor Laguna (Colton) and Toni Sophia; his daughter, Connie Henderson (Todd), of Pocatello, ID; grandchildren, Natasha "Tasha" DeWitt (Logan), Kaylah Walsh, Jonny Walsh (Brianna), Carl Walsh, and Cheyenne Walsh; great-grandchildren, Claire, Dahlila, Ariel, James, Mackenzie; and his sister, Mary Meza (Barney), nephew Michael Alonso and Niece/Goddaughter Ailea Alonso of Jerome, ID. He is preceded in death by his father, Antonio, mother Guilhermina, brother Joe & sister Jessie.
