Curtis “Curt” Doocy, 64, of Waterloo, Iowa, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of quiet strength, deep love for family, and lifelong friendships. Curt was born in Waterloo, Iowa, to Patrick and Patricia Doocy. He spent more than 25 years working in maintenance at Wonder Bread, where he was known for his reliability, strong work ethic, and dedication. He was preceded in death by his father, Patrick Doocy. He is survived by his children: Eric (Chelsey) of Cedar Falls, Kyle of Cedar Falls, and Jessica (Josh) of Cedar Rapids. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to his two granddaughters, Charlie and Dilynn, who brought him endless joy. He is also survived by his mother, Patricia Doocy, and his siblings: Craig (Pam) of Ankeny, Pam of Overland Park, and Jim of Colorado. Curt was often quiet and reserved, but never short on thoughtful stories and meaningful conversations with those he knew and trusted. love for the outdoors and passed that appreciation on to his children and grandchildren. He especially cherished time at Duck Camp and Deer Camp, fishing trips, camping adventures, and vacations to Florida with Jeff and Chris Anderson, as well as trips to Colorado. He shared decades-long friendships with a close group who hunted and fished together throughout their lives. Curt was an animal lover who always had a best friend in a dog and found peace in nature. He enjoyed watching baseball and closely followed his favorite team — the Chicago Cubs. He loved history, Jeopardy, trivia, shooting sports, playing poker, softball, darts, smoking meats, and spending time doing the things he loved most with the people he loved most. Curt will be remembered for his loyalty, honesty, quiet humor, and unwavering love for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles #4074, 2125 W. Lone Tree Road, Cedar Falls, Iowa, on Saturday, February 28, 2:00-5:00 P.M. A luncheon will be served following a short ceremony honoring Curt at 3:00 P.M. Memorial contributions may be directed to the “Curt Doocy Benefit” to support his family.
