Jerome James Kassner, 84, died Saturday evening, September 13, 2008, at a local hospital. He was born on March 10, 1924, the second of two sons, to the late Edward and Marie (Hanson) Kassner. On June 28, 1947, Jerry was united in marriage to Jeanne Marchant. His beloved wife, Jeanne, died on March 3, 2007. They treasured their 59 years together. Jerry proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Force for 3 ½ years. He was a 1986 retiree of Fort Howard Paper Co. He was a member of Nobel-Straubel Post #2037 V.F.W., the Quarter Century Club of Fort Howard, Theodore Roosevelt Lodge #322, F & AM, Palestine Commandry No. 20 KT, Warren Chapter No. 8 RAM, and the Supreme Council of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite - Valley of Green Bay. Jerry will be lovingly remembered by his daughter and son-in-law: Sherry and John Strezlec, his grandchildren: Michael (Kate) Strezlec, Rob (Kristy) Strezlec, and Megan (Richard) Lyshek, and his delightful great grandson, Ben. In addition to his wife and parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved son, Jay; his brother, Gene; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Gene Smith; and his father- and mother-in-law: Harry and Evelyn Marchant. Friends may call after 11:30 a.m. Wed., September 17, 2008 at Lyndahl Funeral Home, where a Masonic Memorial Service and Funeral officiated by Deacon Jim Gauthier will take place at 12:30 p.m. followed by Military Honors. Interment will take place in Fort Howard Memorial Park. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Vincent Hospital for the loving care that they gave to Jerry during his short stay there.
