Francis "Mike" Ott

Francis O. ?Mike? Ott, 67, Green Bay, died Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at home after a 23-month battle against a malignant brain tumor. He was born August 3, 1936, to the late Lester A. and Frances (Stanelle) Ott in Green Bay. On August 30, 1958, he married Betty Vernon in Green Bay. He was a 1954 graduate of Green Bay East High School. In 1958, he received his B.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and in 1970 he received his masters' degree from Northern Michigan University. Mike taught for 27 years at Franklin Junior High School and later at Green Bay Southwest High School, retiring in 1993. He was a member and past president of the Green Bay Education Association. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Mike was well known for his smile, his patience and his abundance of energy. He loved traveling, music, gardening, and especially being outdoors. He excelled in sports. One of his favorite things was playing with his grandchildren. Mike will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Friends may call after 12 noon Saturday, April 10, at First United Methodist Church, 501 Howe Street, Green Bay, where a celebration of Mike's life will take place at 1:00 P.M. with the Rev. Karen Ebert officiating. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund has been established. Lyndahl Funeral Home, Green Bay, is serving the family. The family would like to thank Dr. Thomas Wascher, Dr. Karen Gremminger and the staff of Unity Hospice, especially, Deb, Sharon, Heidi and Kristen for the kindness, care and patience that they provided.
