Victor Vermeulen

Victor L. Vermeulen, 96, Green Bay, died peacefully with family on Sunday, October 8, 2006. He was born February 20, 1910, in Marquette, Michigan, to the late Emil and Marie (Gevaert) Vermeulen, of Belgium. Seventy-three years ago on October 14, 1933, he married Ferne Johnson in Marquette, Michigan. During World War II, Victor served his country in the U. S. Navy Sea Bee's from 1945 to 1946. He had been employed as a printer by the Marquette Mining Journal for ten years, the Green Bay Press-Gazette for twenty-two years and the Green Bay News Chronicle for two years. Victor was a member of the American Legion Post 0011 in Green Bay and the Amvets in Marquette, Michigan. He had been an avid bowler until the age of 93 and also enjoyed golfing until the age of 90. Victor was very proud of his two holes in one at Brown County Golf Course. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Gabrielle Merckx and Catherine Louise St. John. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 11, at Lyndahl Funeral Home. Visitation will continue after 10:00 A.M. Thursday at Bethel Lutheran Church, 1350 Bond Street, where the funeral service will take place at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Gary Froseth officiating with full military honors to follow.
