Raymond R. Van Den Plas, 72, Green Bay, passed away Tuesday morning, Dec. 19, 2006 surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous battle with esophageal cancer. He was born on Sept. 2, 1934 in Green Bay to the late Albert Vanden Plas, Sr. and Mabel Laurent. He married Betty Zellner on Sept. 16, 1952 at St. Amand's Catholic Church in Walhain. He graduated from Luxemburg-Casco High School, Class of 1952. He worked at Procter & Gamble for 39 years, 11 months. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a member of the Holy Name Society and ?Charlie's Handy Men Gang.? He was also a communion distributor and money counter. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and traveling. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Betty; seven children: Debbie (Kevin) Tahany, Madison, Ray (Sue) Van Den Plas, Jerry (Jean) Van Den Plas, Ken (Diane) Van Den Plas, Bonduel, Greg (Mary) Van Den Plas, Theresa (Dave) Basche, Ron (Jeni) Van Den Plas, Green Bay; 10 grandchildren: Sara (Gary) Brown, Milwaukee, Katie Van Den Plas, Rachel (Kurt) Kane, Lindsey Van Den Plas, Adam and Traci Van Den Plas, Bonduel, Nick and Kristin Basche, Christina Tahany, Madison, and Sylvia Van Den Plas, ...[more]

Ray was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Milton; infant sister, Gloria; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Elmer (Dora) Zellner, Elsie (Augie) Haen, Alvin (Eleanor) Zellner, Clarence Zellner, Loretta LeRoy, Raymond Paye, and Rosella Zellner. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 22, 2006, at Lyndahl Funeral Home, where a parish wake service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue after 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ninth Street at 12th Avenue, where a Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Dave Pleier officiating. Entombment will take place in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. Online condolences may be expressed at www.lyndahl.com. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorial fund has been established in Ray's name. The family extends a special thanks to Drs. Leong, Lewis, and Gerndt; the staff of Unity Hospice, especially Paula and Deb; and the loving and caring staff of Bornemann's Nursing Home.
